· This year’s state swim meet will be a ONE day event (Tuesday, April 20, 2021) at Mylan Aquatic Center.
· The format for the meet will be a timed final session for boys (am) and a timed final session for girls (pm). There will not be a preliminary session.
· There will be three heats for each event (8 swimmers per heat for individual events, 6 teams per heat for relays). Each heat will be seeded from slowest to fastest based on regional times.
· Only the group of swimmers for that session (boys or girls) will be allowed on the deck. The other group will sit on either end of the upper level bleachers. Teams may also wait and come when it is time for their session.
· Masks are to be worn at all times during the meet by everyone on deck. Swimmers will remove mask and place in a bag/basket by the block before entering the water. When finished, swimmers will exit the pool at the start end, get their masks, and then immediately return to and stay in their assigned bleacher space until their next event. If a swimmer wants to talk to a coach before or after an event, the coach will have to return to the team area to talk.
· A “bullpen” will be set up in the corner of the pool near the diving area. Swimmers for the upcoming heat will be seated while waiting for their event to start.
· Locker rooms will be used as restroom facilities only. Swimmers are to come dressed to swim.
· Each qualifying swimmer and coaches will be allotted 2 TICKETS. Tickets will be sent to the schools. Schools will be responsible for selling the tickets and returning the money to the WVSSAC.
· The COVID modifications that were in place for regular season will be in effect for the state meet.
· Awards will be placed on the blocks and place winners will come to the block to accept their awards.
· Concessions will be available for sale, but will be Grab-n-Go only.
· There will be no Parade of Finalists this year.
· There will NOT be a coaches’ meeting on Monday evening. A Zoom meeting for coaches will be scheduled for the evening of Sunday, April 18 at 7:00 pm.
· The schedule for the meet will be (Tuesday, April 20):
o 8:00 am – Warm Ups (Boys) and Doors Open for Spectators with Tickets
o 9:30 am – Meet Begins (Boys)
o 1:30 pm – Warm Ups (Girls) and Doors Open for Spectators with Tickets
o 3:00 pm – Meet Begins (Girls)
